The first Concours d’Elegance was held in 1972, just after companies stopped making wooden speedboats and made the switch to fiberglass boats. This year we look forward to the 45th annual Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance. The event is staged at the historic Obexer's Boat Company in Homewood on Lake Tahoe’s beautiful West Shore.
Every time you see a wooden boat on Lake Tahoe, it’s hard not to marvel as it speeds by or pulls up to the dock as you sip cocktails on the Sunnyside deck. The Councours event brings all the wooden boats and wooden boat lovers together for an action packed weekend. On display are exquisitely maintained boats restored to the highest level of authenticity as they appeared when they were shipped from the factory. Boats and boat enthusiasts will travel from around the world to share their passion for wooden boats.
The weekend kicks off with the Opening Night Gala. The event takes place at the Tahoe Maritime Museum with wine, cuisine, music, art and dancing. Other social events that surround the Councours are the Men’s Grill and Ladies Luncheon that includes a fashion show. These are classic events that have become tradition for many who attend each year. The Concours d’Elegance is a timeless event that merges the history of Lake Tahoe with the finest setting and entertainment that Lake Tahoe has to offer today.

The 44th Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance is staged at the historic Obexer’s Boat Company in Homewood on Lake Tahoe’s beautiful West Shore. This year the 80th anniversary of Chris Craft Racing Runabouts will be celebrated. These boats have a rich history that pre-dates Wold War II with timeless style and eye catching design. Said to be the most prestigious wooden boat show in North America, every boat in the show is immaculately restored to meet the highest level of authenticity and original standards as they appeared when they were shipped from the factory. The boats and boat enthusiasts will travel from around the world to share their passion for wooden boats.

Now in it’s 43rd year, the Concours d’ Elegance at Lake Tahoe will be staged at the historic Obexer’s Boat Company in Homewood this Friday, August 7th and Saturday August 8th. Said to be the most prestigious wooden boat show in North America, the crowd will be as remarkable as the boats themselves.
On display will be more than 70 of the most immaculately restored wooden boats from all over the globe. Judges will look for boats that have been restored to the highest level of authenticity and original standard as they appeared when they were shipped from the factory. The event prides itself on the quality of entrants, and boasts the highest standards of judging and sharing the passion of wooden boats with contestants and the public.
In conjunction with the boats on show is the Concours Wine Village where you can relax in the shade and enjoy wines from all over the country. If you are looking for more ways to engage, sign up for one of the other social events such as the men’s BBQ or a ladies luncheon.
