Truckee Pumpkin Patches

October is here and it’s time for pumpkins and Halloween.  There is plenty to do in Tahoe for the fall holidays.  Getting a pumpkin turns into a full day event when you attend one of these memorable events.  Celebrate the season and join in the family fun this month.

Beckwourth, CA

This home town pumpkin patch is located on the farm where they are grown and harvested.  Meg and her father Tim host each weekend's events including a corn maze, various games and activities and the best bake sale you have ever experienced!  Don’t forget to choose a pumpkin, it will be hard to pick just one.

Tahoe Donner

This annual harvest festival is a favorite.  Live music sets the mood for a fun filled day.  The pumpkin patch is just the start.  The kids will love the pony rides, a carnival area, bounce house, caramel apple decorating, pumpkin carving, face painting, trampoline bungee jump and adults can enjoy the barbecue lunch and seasonal beers.

Commons Beach, Tahoe City

This is a classic downtown Truckee event. Start the night by trick-or-treating through the downtown shops and restaurants. Then, everybody will be called to the parade start and walk down the street as part of the parade. The kids costumes are great and they love being part of the parade.

Halloween Happenings 2015

Halloween Happenings

Goblins, ghosts, mummies, ghouls and pumpkins are starting to roam the streets as Halloween grows near.  With fun family events every weekend, there is always an excuse to get dressed up.

This past weekend was the Truckee elementary pumpkin patch.  On a cold wet day, everything was moved inside for an excited crowd.  Games, kids, bounce houses, cake walks and haunted houses were around every corner, it was a blast.  The weekend before, Tahoe Donner had their annual Fall Festival with a pumpkin patch, pony rides, live music, and family fun.

The Halloween fun will continue this weekend at Old Greenwood with their Annual Harvest Party.  As  a Tahoe Mountain Club Member, kids will enjoy a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, pony rides, games, a mad scientist, pumpkin carving and more.  TMC members join in this Saturday from 12pm – 2:30pm.

If you are looking for a fun and an authentic pumpkin patch experience on a farm, pack up the kids and drive up north to Lil’ Megs Pumpkin Patch in Beckwourth CA.  This charming property is just past Sierraville and perfect for the entire family.  Featuring a corn maze, amazing fresh home baked goods, games and pumpkins of all sizes, it’s the perfect place to spend a weekend afternoon.  The drive should be beautiful and full of fall colors, you will not be disappointed.  Open every weekend in October 10am – 4pm.

Come out and see all the lions, tigers, princesses, pirates, witches, mummies, firefighters, minions and many more fun characters next Friday, October 30th at the downtown Truckee Spooktacular Halloween Parade. This event brings out the whole community for a fun evening.   Make your way to downtown Truckee around 4:30pm for trick-or-treating at the downtown shops.  At 6pm,  jump in line in front of the train depot as the parade starts (you are the parade).  Join hundreds of others on the parade route down Donner Pass Road ending at the Community Arts Center.  Ready for more trick-or-treating?  Head inside the Arts Center for more treats!
