New Years Eve Resort Celebrations

New Years Eve Resort Celebrations

This Saturday, December 31, 2016 marks the end of a year.  Time to look back on the year past and look ahead to another year.  This is a special time of year that should be celebrated, especially if you are in Tahoe. Two of our favorite ski resorts will be celebrating in style this year.  Now you just have to choose where you want to ring in 2017!
Northstar California will hold their annual Fire & Ice Celebration with ICE skating and FIREworks in the sky.  This is fun for the whole family.  Start the night off ice skating in the center of The Village at Northstar under the 30 foot Christmas tree.  Warm up around fire pits scattered around the rink and roast marshmallows and make smores.  Jean Genies will be on the main state covering David Bowie.  Genies is sure to be a crowd pleaser as the party gets the Village rocking.  Northstar will celebrate East Coast style to ring in the New Year with a firework show starting at 9pm.

Squaw Valley will be starting the party at 4pm with a Kids Carnival located in the OHouse.  Kids are invited to play an array of carnival games to win glow sticks.  Hold onto those glow sticks and don’t forget to register for the kids glow stick parade.  The kids will hold their glowing prizes proudly as they snake down Exhibition run to the crowd gathered in front of the Plaza Bar at 6:30pm.  Following the kids down the hill will be the real fire as employees of Squaw Valley will sprinkle down the ski run in the Torchlight Parade.  Look up high in the sky as soon as the torches have made it down the hill because that's when the fireworks begin.  From there the fun moves inside with a Kids New York New Year’s Eve Ball Drop party in the OHouse until 9pm.

Stick around as the Squaw Valley Prom is back again for the 13th year!  The Prom is a dance party to raise money for the High Fives Foundation.  Held in the Olypmic Village Lodge, formal “prom” dress is encouraged and the doors open at 8pm.  With 2 DJ’s on tap for the night, the dancing will not stop.  Buy your tickets early as this has always been a sold out event.
