Spring is Here...

We have had about 5 consecutive days of warm weather and I think it is safe to say that spring is here. The blue birds and the robins have returned from their journey to the south. I have been able to conduct my favorite trail run on semi-dry land.

With spring comes some great deals.

First of all, if you plan on buying a ski pass at any of the mountains here for the '09-'10 season, you should do it now. Most of the mountains have special pricing for those who will buy the passes early. I know that Squaw has an amazing deal going now (see link on the side of my page), Northstar has a deal where you can ski for the rest of this season for free if you buy a pass for next season now. Alpine Meadows/Homewood has a similar deal to Squaw with passes starting at $299. Read more about it here.

Also look for some great sales on ski/snowboard equipment and apparel in the shops at the base of the mountains.

Keep checking the local newspaper for local discounts and restaurant deals, often times restaurants do a 2 for 1 dinner special during the spring and fall.

AND NOW...for the local golf course update:

Crews began removing snow from greens on March 1st (see photo above) and have brought the grass out of dormancy. They are now mowing greens at Old Greenwood and Gray's Crossing. Projected course opening dates for both are May 15th. The Tahoe Mountain Club will soon be releasing special discounted pricing on the private Gray's Crossing Golf Membership, more details to follow.

On a GREEN note, please remember "Earth Hour" is today, March 28th. If you haven't heard click here. Turn your lights off from 8:30 PM your local time for one hour. This is a global campaign to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.

And for you Powder Hounds...all is not lost. My weather vane husband Brad has informed me that there is a chance for some more snow the week of April 5th...stay tuned.

Welcome to Katie Talks Tahoe!

Welcome to my new blog!

I will be posting several times a week to let you know what is going on in the real estate market up here in North Lake Tahoe. Also to let you know what is going on around the lake including weather updates, events, shopping, shows, outdoor activities and much more! I will also be sharing some of my favorite things to do and see in the area - a little insight from a local.

Check in often to see what is going on - I'll be your virtual tour guide until you come back and visit. Thanks for checking in!

I had the chance to take my nephews skiing this weekend and the snow (and weather) was outstanding! Spring skiing is here!

Skiing with a seven and five year old is a whole different experience - fun and enlightening all at the same time! More on my tips and tricks to navigate ski school and skiing with kids later- I'll include that in a later post.

I'm looking forward to keeping in touch with you on my blog - and always feel free to contact me anytime with questions.

Blog you soon!
