Located mid-mountain at Northstar California, The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe is a grand experience any time of year.  The building was modeled after Yosemite’s Ahwahnee Lodge and features a five story rock fireplace center piece and floor to ceiling windows looking out to the ski hill.  The main level is a grand living room with small nooks around every corner for guests to enjoy private fireplaces and comfortable couches with grand views. There is food and drink service all through the are and often live music making the "living room" a very inviting place to gather.

The holidays bring fun and festive reasons to visit Tahoe’s only five star hotel tucked in the mountains at Northstar.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making an appearance at kids crafts night on on Thursday, December 22nd at 6:30pm.  They will be back again on Friday night for photos at 5pm followed by story time with Mrs. Claus at 8pm.  Throughout the week there are plenty of holiday activities including ornament making, custom hand-made wrapping paper workshop, make your own pine cone fire starter and everyone’s favorite, the gingerbread house workshop alongside a Ritz-Carlton pastry chef.

This Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place to be any time of year.  Now, with the holiday season in full swing and a packed events calendar, there are many reasons to venture up to Mountainside at Northstar and the Ritz-Carlton.  Park in the Village at Northstar and ride the gondola up or enjoy the beautiful drive up to mid-mountain and valet park your car at the Ritz-Carlton.

Santa’s Gingerbread Workshop
Design a gingerbread house fit for the North Pole with the help of the Ritz-Carlton pastry chef.

Treat yourself to the fine dinning option at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe and come to lunch or dinner at Manzanita. An experience and a delicious meal that you will come back for year after year.

Whether you are staying in the hotel or just up for the day, it’s worth your time to have a meal at Manzanita. With fresh, local and organic ingredients, the flavors radiate with each bite. You can’t really go wrong when ordering, but some favorites are the braised short ribs that will fall off the bone at first touch, you never thought trout could be so delicious! And the burger is the best in Tahoe, tried and true.   

Enjoy the thoughtfully designed dining room with lots of fun textures and natural materials. The floor to ceiling windows looking out to the slopes of Northstar bring light in and provide an open view to reflect on the day’s adventures. The kitchen set is visible from all vantage points in the restaurant.

Don’t miss the special event this Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Manzanita. Celebrity chef Dean Fearing and author of “The Texas Food Bible” will host a pop-up style restaurant in Manzanita for the evening preparing a 5-course menu for guests. Sure to be a fun night.

Getting there:
If you’re staying at the hotel, easy and convenient, Manzanita is located on the main floor of the Ritz-Carlton.


If you’re in the Village at Northstar, hop on the Highlands gondola (free for pedestrians without ski equipment). This 8 minute ride will drop you on the back patio of the hotel. From there, take a left and head down the stairway and into the hotel. Down the hall and the restaurant is there on the right.


If you are coming from outside of Northstar, head to the Ritz-Carlton via Highlands View Road off of HWY 267. This scenic 3 mile drive up to the hotel is beautiful. At the top of the hill, just past mid-mountain at Northstar, turn left into the entrance of The Ritz-Carlton. Valet parking only that will be discounted with restaurant validation.
